JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A first-grade teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic School was nominated for Teacher of the Week by both a current and former student.
Allison Ingram loves teaching her first-grade class and they obviously love her, too. "We have a wonderful time. I love it from the time they wake up in the morning, to the time they leave," said Ingram.
Even her former students miss her. Third-grader Haynes Grant had Ingram in the first grade and nominated her. "I want you to be the Teacher of the Week because you are a great teacher and you are very understanding," he wrote. "You are a sweet teacher. You are as sweet as a candy cane and you are as beautiful as a flower. You are as good as gold. I love you so much."
When Ingram heard about the letter she was moved. "It has touched my heart beyond belief."
Another parent also nominated Ingram because she said Ingram teaches through love, patience and by building each child up by concentrating on their strengths.
"I absolutely love what I do," said Ingram.
She has been teaching for 25 years and said her class is so special she thinks they should be recognized as the Class of the Week.
