ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Coach Greg Stanton is teaching his students much more than how to stand when weightlifting, making him this week's Teacher of the Week.
"Each and every day that I get the opportunity, we try to enhance the young men and young women that I have in class and the football team academically, morally and athletically," the Creekside High School head football coach said of his teaching philosophy.
"I want to be afforded the opportunity with the young men that I'm entrusted with," Stanton said. "I want to be a resource for parents as far as trying to get young people nowadays to learn accountability and know there's a right way and a wrong way of doing things."
The Knights head coach said he was shocked to hear a parent had nominated him for Teacher of the Week, saying he doesn't do it for the accolades.
Stanton hopes he inspires his students like he was inspired as a player and student himself at Terry Parker High School.
