YULEE, Fla. -- Beats from Justin Bieber's "Baby" fill Amanda Crowder's classroom at Yulee Primary. But the lyrics aren't the same; they're all about the importance of learning in the second grade.
Crowder says her goal is for her kids to enjoy learning, "When I see them laughing and having fun, I love to see that, and then I want to keep going with it."
Students Kayla Companion and Matthew Walters say Crowder is good at making learning fun and often comes up with new ways to do just that.
Kayla says she likes a new twist Crowder added to the game, Sparkl, "Whenever she put the ball in it. So we can do it three different ways now, " she says.
"She let's us play Homeworkopoly and lets us roll the dice," adds Matthew Walters.
Crowder says she knew she wanted to be a teacher since she was five years old. She says it's an important job that she does not take lightly.
"God's put them here for a reason and I might be that one person that shows them they are special and that I care about them. So the one thing I want them to remember is that I cared about them and I helped them learn something. Maybe they're having a difficult time with something, and maybe I can be the one who helps them and maybe it clicks," she says.
Crowder is the school's "Teacher of the Year" and has been teaching for nearly a decade.
