TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Hillsborough County deputies are trying to determine who shot a cat through the torso with an arrow.
The Tampa Tribune reports that two men brought the injured cat to Riverview Veterinary Animal Hospital on Wednesday after they said they found the animal on the side of a road.
The arrow was surgically removed from the orange and white kitty, who was then named Emily by hospital staff.
Emily is on pain medication, and her prognosis is good.
Because the cat is spayed, authorities believe she may not be a stray.
Hillsborough County Animal Services is investigating. Those responsible for shooting the cat could face felony animal cruelty charges.
