OCALA, Fla. - A Florida State University student was killed early Thanksgiving morning in a hit-and-run accident, according to the Ocala Star Banner.
William McDonald, 23, was home from college when he was struck by a red Chevrolet Trailblazer at about 1:14a.m.
The driver fled the scene, but later contacted the Ocala Police Department claiming he thought he had been involved in an accident, the Star Banner reports.
26-year-old Joseph M. Stewart was arrested for a hit-and-run with a fatality and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. Stewart was later released from the Marion County Jail on a $10,000 bond, according to the Star Banner.
McDonald's friends have taken to Twitter to share feeling of grief and support for the McDonald family during following this devastating event.
