TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa police have released the name of a security guard who was slain while patrolling an apartment complex.
Police are releasing few details about Wednesday night's slaying of 38-year-old Michael Valentin at the Grande Oak Apartments. They said Valentin was found dead by officers outside the clubhouse with his gun still holstered.
Officers had been responding to the complex after its guards reported a suspect with a warrant. Valentin was killed before they arrived. Residents told reporters they heard a shot but police refused to discuss the Valentin's wounds.
Police detained several people for questioning but no one had been arrested.
