FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A Florida Senate committee is slated to meet to discuss implementing the Affordable Care Act.

Republican Gov. Rick Scott has been a vocal critic of "Obamacare" but softened his stance after the election, saying he's open to working with the federal government. Scott says he's still concerned about how much it will cost the state. It's still unclear whether the governor will expand the Medicaid rolls to include more than a million new beneficiaries.

The Senate Select Committee on Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is set to meet Monday afternoon.

Several health care experts worry it's too late for the state to run its own health exchange because it's missed too many critical deadlines. Florida is in a bit of a holding pattern until the Legislature convenes in March.
