OCALA, Fla. -- Police identified Thursday the body of a man found in a wooded area near Paddack Mall in Ocala Wednesday.
Detective Mathew Steckman with the Ocala Police Department said the body was that of 55-year-old David Michael Wells.
Police identified Wells' body by using medical information and cards located in a wallet found at the scene, Steckman said.
According to Ocala police records, Wells was listed as homeless and their last contact with him was on Sept. 19, 2012.
Steckman said police have been to locate and notify Wells' next of kin.
