TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - There's a lack of gun-friendly bills in gun-friendly Florida.
Neither Republicans nor the National Rifle Association are seeking to advance gun rights in a year when Democrats want to repeal or rewrite laws Republicans have passed in recent years. That includes the "stand your ground" law that allows people to use deadly force if they feel threatened.
While Democrats are raising the debate, there's little chance the bills they're filing will pass in a Legislature where they're outnumbered nearly 2-to-1 by Republicans.
While Republicans may not be seeking new gun laws, a House measure would ask representatives to send a message to President Barack Obama and Congress to protect gun rights.
