NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - Investigators have identified remains found in the mangroves near Naples in 2009 as those of a Miami man.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office was notified this week by officials at the University of North Texas Department of Forensic and Investigative Genetics that the remains match Roman Reese, who would have turned 51 on March 14.

The Naples Daily News reports fishermen found the remains on May 30, 2009. Fingerprint and DNA samples were entered into multiple state and national databases - including the University of North Texas. Since then, detectives have followed up on multiple tips and potential matches.

Officials say Reese had not been in contact with his family in years and had not been reported missing. The case remains under investigation.
