SANFORD, Fla. - George Zimmerman's defense attorneys claim that Trayvon Martin's toxicology results are important to the case.
Trayvon Martin was killed in an altercation with a neighborhood watchman.
Attorneys for Zimmerman filed a motion Tuesday in response to a state motion to quash the results. The defense opposes that motion.
Martin's toxicology results revealed traces of marijuana in his blood on the night he was shot by Zimmerman.
In the motion, attorneys claim video surveillance from a 7-Eleven store shows Martin sway just minutes ahead of the incident that led to his death.
The attorneys said that if Martin's judgment could have been impaired by marijuana on the night of the shooting, then the results should be admissible evidence.
Zimmerman told investigators that the shooting was self-defense.
