A Manatee County Sheriff's Officer helped out a dog left in a car heated at over 100 degrees.
The officer responded to a parking lot where the dog was located in a black Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck with the window down approximately 3 inches parked in the full sun.
The dog appeared to be in distress and did not have any water in the vehicle. The interior temperature of the vehicle was measured at 102 degrees.
Attempts were made to locate the owner of the vehicle to no avail so a coat hanger was used to unlock and open the door to the truck so the dog could be removed and treated.
When the dog's owner returned to the vehicle, she was cited by an Animal Services Officer.
