ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -Authorities arrested a man in connection with a shooting that left another man dead in Orange County on Sunday afternoon.
Orange County sheriff's deputies said they received a call that shots were fired at 35th Street and Nashville Avenue. Responding deputies found a man, 32-year-old Shane Thompson, lying in the street.
Detectives said Thompson was gunned down as he stood next to his bicycle on the street.
"A couple of gunshots were heard, and when units responded, they found the black male on the side of the road with a gunshot wound to the upper body," said Jeff Williamson, of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the alleged shooter, 37-year-old Edward Hayes, was arrested.
According to the Orange County Clerk of Courts, the two men have been arrested several times.
The relationship between the men, if any, was not immediately known.
Hayes is charged with second-degree murder and is expected to face a judge Monday.
