BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - Authorities in Brevard County recovered the body of a man who crashed his airboat Saturday night in the St. Johns River.
The airboat struck a bridge at the Beachline Expressway and State Route 407 near Cocoa around 11 p.m.
The Brevard County Sheriff's Office, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were notified by the victim's son Saturday night.
FWC spokeswoman Karen Parker told WESH 2 News the body of 61-year-old Ralph D. Oliver was found about around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Oliver lived in Cocoa.
Parker says Oliver was with a group of airboaters who had left Paw Paw, a popular spot on the river, about 10 miles north of the crash scene.
Oliver's airboat was the last one in the group. No one saw him crash, authorities said.
Parker said the crash investigation is still in its early stages and no other information is available at this time.
