APOPKA, Fla. -- Shoppers outside an Apopka Walmart found an alligator lurking near the store's entrance.
Authorities said the alligator wandered up to the front doors early Sunday morning.
Employees closed one side of the entrance after the gator approached.
"Someone inside said, 'There's a gator at the door,'" shopper Robin Watkins said. "It was a nice size gator, just chilling."
Apopka police responded to keep the shoppers safe. They said the alligator stuck around for about an hour before wandering back to a pond behind the store.
Authorities with the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are expected at the store Sunday to determine if there is a threat to the public.
