SANFORD, Fla. -- SANFORD, Fla. -One person is dead in Sanford after four train cars filled with gravel overturned Thursday morning.

Officials said they were called to the SunRail station on State Road 46 at around 6:40 a.m.

According to Florida Department of Transportation spokesman Steve Olson, a locomotive was pushing a contracted train hauling gravel to be used on the SunRail construction project when four of the ten cars derailed. It wasn't immediately clear why the cars overturned.

"It was moving at a slow rate of speed, and it was going to be relocated. To where I don't know or how far, I'm not sure at this point," said Seminole County Fire Department spokeswoman Paula Thompson.

Heavy equipment, such as a front-end loader and backhoes dug through the rubble and found the man's body partially trapped under an overturned rail car.

FDOT said heavier equipment has been requested and will be used to eventually move the overturned cars.

The victim was working for the contractor that was delivering the gravel.

A fire department spokesman said the employee was watching the train move down the rails when he was last heard yelling, "Derail, derail, derail."

Seminole County's Special Hazards and Operations Team, SWAT, Sanford Fire Department, Florida Highway Patrol and the FBI are all at the accident location.

The derailment did not happen on the main rain line, so train traffic can still pass without a problem.
