ORLANDO, Fla. - A man was arrested Thursday night, accused of shooting and killing his pregnant wife, who was carrying twins.
Authorities said Michael Boyce faces two murder charges -- one for his wife, Alexis Boyce, and another for one of the unborn twins. The other twin survived.
Investigators said Alexis Boyce, who was eight months pregnant, was shot in the head inside the couple's apartment they share with her parents on Pershing Avenue.
Alexis Boyce's parents were inside the apartment when the incident occurred and said they heard the gunshot in the living room but didn't actually see Michael Boyce pull the trigger. The victim's father called police.
According to investigators, Michael Boyce first told them that his wife had committed suicide. However, when he was confronted with evidence from the scene, he changed his story and said it was an accident, officials said.
Michael Boyce was transported from the Orange County Sheriff's Office to the Orange County Jail.
The surviving infant is being treated in the neonatal intensive care unit at Winnie Palmer Hospital.
Authorities said the couple had been married for about a year.
Michael Boyce is expected to make his first appearance in front of a judge Friday afternoon.
