ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. -- Three people died and two were critically injured in a Saturday evening crash in Alachua County.
Hunter Bailey, 21, was driving a 2000 Toyota vehicle north on I-75 when it hydroplaned while switching lanes and overturned in the median, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The Toyota was hit by a Nissan occupied by four Chinese citizens.
One person, who was not wearing a seat belt according to FHP, was ejected from the vehicle and is in critical condition. Two of the passengers died from their injuries. The Chinese driver and one passenger, who is also in critical condition, are receiving treatment at UF Health.
Bailey, who according to FHP did not wear a seat belt, died from his injuries caused during the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol is working with the Chinese Embassy to notify the next of kin.
