MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - 14-year-old girl was accidentally shot at a gun range in Merritt Island on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, the girl was at The Gun Site Range with her father when her handgun accidentally fired one shot.
Authorities were called to the gun range at 3:20 p.m.
Billy Thompson said he was there to purchase ammunition when he saw the commotion.
"She accidentally discharged her weapon into her femur. She actually hurt herself pretty bad," said Thompson.
The girl was flown to Holmes Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
