BUFORD, Ga. -- Police outside Atlanta say officers shot and killed a man in the parking lot of an apartment complex after a stun gun didn't subdue him.
Authorities say officers were called to the complex near downtown Buford around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday after reports of several people smoking marijuana.
Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith said officers began frisking the men. Smith tells The Gwinnett Daily Post that one of the men pulled a handgun from his clothes and held it to his own head.
Smith said that after the man didn't follow orders to drop the gun, one officer struck the man with a stun gun. Smith said the man then pulled out the stun gun probes, and pointed his gun at the officers. Police say three officers opened fire, killing him.
