Glynn Commissioners to meet for first time after colleague's death

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. -- This morning, Glynn County Commissioners will hold their first official meeting since the death of Commissioner Tom Sublett.

The group may discuss adding funds to the reward police are currently offering for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in Sublett's death.

Investigators found Sublett's body floating in the Frederica River off St. Simon's Island in the early morning hours of December 11.

His wife, Carol, had called 911 to report him missing around 2:30 a.m. after she said he did not come home from playing cards with friends.

"He's not an alcoholic. He doesn't run around. He is a county commissioner, and he's not home and I don't know what to do," sobbed Carol Sublett.  "I can't get him on his cell phone."

According to Glynn County Commissioner Jimmy Durden, Sublett had been shot in the head and his hands were zip-tied before he went into the water.  Durden said the Georgia Bureau of Investigations is still working to determine whether Sublett's death was a murder or a suicide.
