SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Police in Savannah say seven people were hospitalized after a wrong way collision on Interstate 95.
Authorities say the crash happened Thursday just before noon. Police say 83-year-old Virgil Hicks and 82-year-old Mary Hicks, of Statesboro, were traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway and collided with an SUV carrying five people from Boone, N.C.
Police say Hicks turned his 2007 Buick Lucerne left across the freeway trying to get to an exit and collided with a Honda Pilot at the entry to the ramp.
Police say Virgil Hicks is listed in critical condition and his wife is listed in stable condition. Authorities say 41-year-old Sarah Miller, 43-year-old Vachel Miller, 10-year-old Galen Miller, 8-year-old Sidra Miller and 6-year-old Caspian Miller were taken to the Memorial University Medical Center.
