ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - St. Simons Island is gearing up for its role in Will Ferrell's new "Anchorman" movie.
The Brunswick News reports filming of scenes for the sequel to "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" is starting soon. Scott McQuade of the Golden Isles Convention and Visitors Bureau says most of the cast and crew members are expected to arrive Monday.
The film stars Ferrell, Steve Carell and Christina Applegate reprising their roles from the 2004 comedy. They'll be shooting scenes in different parts of coastal Glynn County, with St. Simons Island being one of the more visible locations.
McQuade says the production should provide a healthy economic boost. The cast and crew are expected to spend the equivalent of 2,000 nights in local hotel rooms.
