ATLANTA -- Police said an SUV with a child inside was recovered after being stolen Thursday morning in northwest Atlanta.
It happened just before 8 a.m. near the intersection of Bolton Road and Marietta Boulevard.
Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones said Hillary Grotewold was putting air in the tires of her GMC Terrain at a RaceTrac station at the corner of Bolton and Marietta when someone hopped into the car and drove off. Grotewold's 4-year-old son was in the back seat.
Jones said the suspect abandoned the vehicle at a nearby CVS Pharmacy when he realized there was a child in the back.
The suspect was described as a black male with a gray hat and gray backpack. Jones said he took Grotewold's purse and iPhone.
