ATLANTA , Ga. -- A new survey released overnight Monday shows more companies are getting ready to hire in just about every field you can imagine.
According to the Manpower Employment Outlook for the third quarter of 2013, the number of companies hiring across the country is the highest since 2009.
"The demand is there," Beth Herman of Manpower told WXIA's Jennifer Leslie. "They've got the work. They've got the business. They need to hire."
Of the hundreds of companies surveyed in metro Atlanta, 26 percent plan to hire in the third quarter of this year.
That's up ten percent from the second quarter of 2013. It's also seven percent higher than the third quarter of 2012.
"There is a cautiousness around it," Herman said. "We're never going to have the fat payrolls we used to have. People are going to do more with less, and they've seen they can."
But what's unusual about the latest numbers is that every sector is adding jobs, with some offering real promise.
"If you're university-bound, I'm going look at IT, engineering, accounting and finance," Herman added. "If I'm tech-school bound, which is a great thing, I'm looking at skilled trades, maintenance."
The only downside of the survey is that six percent of companies plan to cut staff. That's the same level as this time last year.
