ST. MARYS, Ga. -- A St. Marys man was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of children after investigators found sexually explicit images of children on his computer.
Marshall Nicolas Hitt, 29, began being investigated after Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) special agents notified the St. Marys Police Department of the case involving Hitt on Thursday, according to SMPD.
Using information provided to them by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), NCIS interviewed Hitt.
According to SMPD, once NCIS realized the crimes occurred in St. Marys, NCIS notified SMPD investigators for assistance and a search warrant was secured for Hitt's residence.
Investigators found electronic devices belonging to Hitt which contained sexually explicit images of children, according to SMPD.
Hitt was arrested and incarcerated at the Camden County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Complex on the charge of Sexual Exploitation of Children.
He was released from the complex Monday on a $4,800 bond.
