ATLANTA -- A Georgia man is set to appear in court Friday morning after law officers say he made "odd" statements about weapons and going to his old high school to test them.

Fulton County sheriff's spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said 51-year-old Joseph John Medved made the comments to a receptionist at a Roswell pain treatment center Wednesday night.

Witnesses to the conversation called deputies in Forsyth County, where Medved lives. Local authorities then called in the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force.

Deputies say they found a shotgun, rounds and what appeared to be an improvised explosive device in a search of his basement.

Fulton County Jail records show that Medved is charged with Terroristic Threats and Acts and faces an 11 a.m. Friday court appearance. Jail records do not list an attorney for Medved.
