BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) -- Jurors weighing the case against a Georgia man charged with killing his father and seven others inside a mobile home are breaking for the night.
The jury of eight women and four men deliberated nearly seven hours Wednesday in the trial of 26-year-old Guy Heinze Jr. before stopping for the night. They will resume Thursday morning.
Heinze faces a possible death sentence if he's convicted of murder in the Aug. 29, 2009, slayings just outside Brunswick.
Prosecutors say Heinze clubbed all eight victims to death in the middle of the night, likely using a shotgun barrel, after getting into a fight when he tried to take a bottle of prescription painkillers.
Defense attorneys have said police ignored evidence and alternate suspects in a rush to build a case against Henize.
