ATHENS, Ga. -- Athens-Clarke County police say the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is probing the death of a 22-year-old jail inmate who was found unresponsive over the weekend.
Sheriff's Capt. Eric Pozen told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Marcus Sanchez Cooper was found unresponsive Saturday evening and there were no apparent signs of foul play.
Pozen says the man's body has been sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy. The man's cause of death is unclear.
Cooper was arrested on a probation violation last week and had been ordered to serve 10 years on probation for a 2010 burglary charge.
