Baptist Health offering yoga for breast cancer survivors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Baptist Health began this month offering yoga classes for breast cancer survivors.

The eight-week program is for women who have survived breast cancer, according to a news release from Baptist Health.

The one hour classes will take place Thursdays starting at 1:30 p.m.  Classes will held at Baptist Health's Hill Breast Center located at 1235 San Marco Blvd.

Each class will have a different theme focusing on women's health the release said.  Topics will include emotional, spiritual and postural health.

The first class is January 24.

The release said yoga therapy can help people with programs tailored specifically to an individual's needs and goals.

Baptist Health's yoga program is led by Joan E. Ryan, B.S., Certified Professional Yoga Instructor and a 12-year breast cancer survivor.  Ryan became a teacher and practitioner in 1972 the release said.
