ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WTSP) -- Gov. Rick Scott dodged a question about the vetting of former Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll Tuesday when he declined to answer whether he reviewed Carroll's financial disclosures before selecting her as his running mate.

"She did the right thing for the state. She did the right thing for her family (when she resigned). As you know I'm going to wait to the end of session to look for another Lt. Gov," Scott said when asked if he knew about Carroll's error filled financial disclosures.

Integrity Florida said this week that Carroll's disclosures, which they say contain wildly incomplete and inconsistent information, show the need for reform.

But Carroll's filings, which Integrity Florida has posted online, also raise questions about the vetting process used before Scott selected the Jacksonville Republican to run with him.

"We're seeing major fluctuations of net worth, missing properties, just red flags that if Florida had an Ethics Commission with the authority to investigate and ask questions perhaps this resignation could have been avoided if there was more vetting, more questions asked more than 10 years ago," Integrity Florida Executive Director Dan Krassner.
