ORLANDO, Fla. (WESH) - Florida Hospital will bring a breast milk bank to the Central Florida region.
Last month, WESH 2 News first reported that a group of women were pushing to create the state's first breast milk bank.
On Monday, announced a similar bank will become part of the Florida Hospital Orlando's Lactation Center.
"The opening of the Milk Depot is part of Florida Hospital's continued commitment to providing women and babies with the most comprehensive medical resources available," organizers said in a prepared statement.
The hospital will provide a convenient location for women to donate milk. The bank could help at-risk preemies the most.
The Academy of Pediatrics recommends pasteurized donor human milk to premature infants, according to organizers.
