Preventing childhood tooth decay

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- As a parent, you think about when your child should start visiting a dentist.

Tooth decay is a leading chronic childhood disease, according to the centers for disease control and prevention -- and it's almost entirely preventable.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children be seen by a dentist between the ages of three and nine months.The child's first visit should be scheduled no later than their first birthday.
