JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Dilworth family hosted their 6th annual Alex's Lemonade Stand Grand Stand Saturday in their continuing efforts to help fight childhood cancer.

The Dilworth family, including their children Luke and Mallory, started the lemonade stand after reading the story of Alexandra "Alex" Scott in their local paper.

Alexandra Scott passed away in August of 2004 at the age of eight from cancer. Before Alex's death she was able to raise more than $1 million with the help of others, to help find a cure for the disease that eventually took her life.

"We wanted to help since we are so blessed, and wanted to teach our kids to give back to the community," said Mark Dilworth.

Supporters, like the Dilworth family, have continued Alex's legacy through Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Lemonade Days is a three day national event that grew from Alex's front yard to yards all across the country. This year Lemonade Days is set for June 7, 8, and 9.

The Dilworth family is hoping to raise $3500-$4500. More than a million dollars is expected to be raised for childhood cancer research throughout the country.

" It is fun, it is fun to help people and find a cure for cancer, and every dollar bill people give us helps," said 11-year old Luke Dilworth who filled lemonade cups for five hours on Saturday.
