The students at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind rallied together to donate more than 700 bears to our Buddy Bear project.
The bears will go to chemotherapy patients fighting all types of cancer.
While we were in St. Augustine at FSDB, some awesome moments happened right in front of our cameras. You'll see these moments of compassion in the story.
The students wanted to collect bears in honor of Carlos, a classmate who passed away recently from cancer. Carlos had a dream to go to his prom. He made it, but died not long afterwards.
Tonight we say congratulations to all the hard work at FSDB to help us collect new bears. Great job!
We are wrapping up our bear drive right now. We're encouraging folks to drop off any bears they've collected to our TV station, First Coast News at 1070 E. Adams, Jacksonville.
