JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Southside residents were shaken after the shooting death of a 17-year-old Wolfson High School student.

He was shot just after 7:30 Friday night at the Gate gas station on the corner of Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Road.

It's next to where Tiffany Randle works.

"I didn't even hear any of the shooting or anything I just turned around and saw all of the ambulances and police cars coming," said Randlem. She is an employee at Village Bread Cafe, which is located in the same shopping plaza as the gas station.

She saw police tape go up at the scene.

Randle is still trying to make sense of the deadly shooting.

According to an anonymous source, the shooting claimed the life of Jordan Davis.

"Everybody was just shocked because this is a very safe neighborhood. Nothing like that really every happens around here you know," Randle explained.

Police say the victim was inside an SUV with some of his friends when he was shot several times.

Police says the shooting happened after a confrontation that started over loud music.

Michael Dunn of Satellite Beach, 45, was arrested in Brevard County Saturday. He now faces a murder and attempted murder charge out of Duval County.

Police don't suspect that Dunn knew the victim.

Customers at the Gate gas station were stunned to learn what happened.

Gas station customer Tyus Byrd said, "We come here all the time. It's pretty much quiet in this area so when it happened, I happened to be passing through. I saw the police rope it all off, and I didn't know what happened, but it's shocking to hear that is still going on especially over on this side of town."

First Coast News put in a request to interview Dunn in jail but he declined to talk to us.
