COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A semi tractor trailer driver fell asleep at the wheel shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, but woke up just before rear ending another semi.
A Florida Highway Patrol crash report said 38-year-old Edward Thurner was driving southbound on Interstate 75 near mile marker 411 in Columbia County.
The report said Thurner told troopers he fell asleep, but woke up right before he rear-ended another semi tractor trailer being driven by 68-year-old Claude McCann.
The report said neither man was injured in the crash.
FHP estimates the damage done to Thurner's semi at $90,000. The damage to McCann's tractor trailer is estimated at $60,000.
