BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- More details are emerging about the bodies buried in a Colonial-era cemetery in Brunswick.
Authorities tell The Brunswick News that 34 graves have now been identified in the cemetery on the site of a former middle school.
City Manager Bill Weeks says much of the digging at the site has been completed.
Weeks said he's identified what he believes to be 17 adult graves and 17 adolescent or infant graves. He said they are in a line, like they could be family plots.
The graves were part of a cemetery was that located on the eastern edge of Brunswick when it was small community in the late 18th Century. As the city grew, it subsumed the cemetery, leaving it forgotten.
