Police searching for man suspected in shooting

PALATKA, Fla. -- The Palatka Police Department is searching for a 22-year-old man they believe is responsible for a shooting Monday night.

Police were called around 8:45 Monday night to reports of a person having been shot, according to a news release from the Palatka Police Department.

The release said witnesses told police the victim was driving his car in the area of Moseley and St. Johns Avenue when someone shot dressed in all black shot him.

The victim then drove from Moseley and St. Johns Avenue to his home on East Oak Hill Drive where he called for help.

Emergency personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The release said he is expected to make a full recovery.

Police are looking for 22-year-old Lazayeus Bartley as a person of interest in the shooting.

The release said Bartley is also a person of interest in an unrelated case of burglary and theft.
