JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- There's a new trend in creating petitions.  Now, instead of waiting outside of the grocery store collecting signatures for a petition, you can do it all online.

The Official White House website is now interactive. You can create petitions, collect online signatures and get action. An online video explained that "White House staff will review it, ensure it is sent to the appropriate policy experts and issue an official response."

As of today, there are more than 150 active petitions on the site.  One of the more popular petitions is to deport CNN host Piers Morgan for his views on the 2nd Amendment.

More than 65,000 people have electronically signed that petition.

Jane Shirek of Jacksonville said she loves the idea.

"Because it's easy and it's fast and I don't have to stop what I'm doing. Usually when I'm out and about, I'm in a hurry, and when I'm online, I have time to think about it and read it."

Some people are having success with their online petitions. There's a response section where government leaders take action based on the petition, and possibly create real change.

"You can sit behind your desk and petition whatever and voice your own opinion, so I respect other people's opinions," Daniel Evans said.

So the next time you're unhappy with something, start typing, and see if you can collect the 25,000 online signatures within 30 days to get your petition started.
