JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Thousands of parents will descend on the Prime Osborn Convention Center Saturday and it is all to help their children get a specialized education.
The Duval County Public School system is expecting anywhere from 7,000 - 8,000 parents and students to be at the Magnet Mania School Choice Expo this Saturday. It will start at 11 a.m. at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

The school system says there are more options for parents and students this year because of the districts new "School Choice Initiative." Which means every middle and high school will offer special programs designed to hone a child's special interest or talent.

At the event Saturday there will be magnet programs, charter schools, career academies and neighborhood schools for all grade levels. There will also be parents and teachers on hand from those programs and schools to speak with parents.
The event is free and open to the public.
