JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Thursday afternoon a jury found a 46-year-old man guilty of robbing the 103rd Street Hospitality Inn in September 2011.

A jury found Johnny Walthour guilty of armed robbery with a firearm, according to a news release from State Attorney Angela Corey's office.

The release said Walthour and LaTroy Montgomery allegedly help up the hotel.

The two armed, masked men allegedly forced the hotel's security guard to the floor before taking money from the clerk.

After taking the money the two then fled the hotel.

Police later arrested Walthour on a violation of probation for a 1996 robbery conviction.

The hotel armed robbery happened within three years of Walthour being released from prison on the 1996 charge the release said.

Assistant State Attorney Brittany Mauerberger said, "Due to the defendant's criminal history, he now faces a mandatory life in prison sentence."

Montgomery's trial for the armed robbery charge is pending.  The release said Walthour is scheduled to be sentenced the week of February 19.
