Jacksonville, Fla. - A bomb squad was called out Friday evening to search a Westside hotel room for a meth lab after police found equipment to manufacture the drug inside of a car, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The search did not yield a meth lab but five people have been arrested on charges of armed conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, said a JSO spokesperson.
A concerned citizen witnessed what appeared to be an assault taking place outside of a car around 11:00 a.m. on Normandy Blvd. near Normandy Village. The group entered a white Toyota Corolla and drove away.
Police say the concerned citizen followed the Corolla to the 6500 block of Ramona Blvd. and also called the Sheriff's Office.
An officer pulled the car over in the parking lot of Budget Inn located on Ramona Blvd.
According to JSO, the officer recognized the individuals inside the car and smelled something associated to meth. The officer then proceeded to search the car and found equipment for a possible meth lab along with guns.
Members of group were staying at the Executive Inn, across the street from the Budget Inn, where officers believed there was possible a lab.
