JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Fire and Rescue put out a vehicle fire Friday morning on Interstate 95 northbound.
The vehicle caught fire before 7:30 a.m. in the northbound emergency lane of I-95 just before Old St. Augustine Road. It appeared the driver got out of the vehicle before the car became engulfed.
JFRD responded to the scene a short time later and put the fire out, causing heavy smoke to fill the area.
Two northbound lanes were blocked as crews worked the scene, but all lanes have since been reopened.
Northbound backup reaches CR-210 and drivers are encouraged to take US-1 as an alternate route.
