Video: Woman loses almost 80 pounds to fight off diabetes

Cindee's Aunt Ruby died from complications of diabetes.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Cindee Sanchez is a friendly, working woman in Jacksonville who is determined she will not become a diabetic.  She has lost nearly 80 pounds already and sworn off fast food.

Cindee put herself in the YMCA's "Diabetes Prevention Program," a project to help people at high risk for diabetes.

Cindee said she remembers her Aunt Ruby died of complication from diabetes, even after having her leg amputated.  Cindee said a "reality check" inspired her to take action, even though she'd been yo-yo dieting for years.

The Y's program, she said, taught her to discover how fun exercise can be.  The "Zumba" classes, she said, have increased her cardio health to the point she can walk quickly on a treadmill for an hour.

She said before, she couldn't even walk her dog, Oreo, because she'd get out of breath.

She's also learned healthier eating habits, such as cooking for herself and logging "every bite that goes into my mouth."

She chuckles when she talks about making a pizza crust out of cauliflower.  But she said, seriously, it's good.

Cindee said she has more weight to lose, but if she can stay on this positive track she is confident she can avoid becoming a diabetic.

According to Cindee you can find the recipe through this link:
