Atlantic Beach, Fla. -- A blistery day greeted hundreds of senior citizens for an outing at Hanna Park hosted by the city in what is called the Mayor's Fish-A-Thon.
Trophies were handed out to seniors who caught the biggest and ugliest fish.
Johnny Green was one of lucky ones as he caught a 1 1/2 pound catfish.
While he did not walk away with a trophy, Green said it was all about having a good time and fellowship.
"It's real nice, seniors out here enjoying themselves very much," said Green.
Green's fishing partner, Sylvester Burns, did not catch a fish but said he enjoyed his first Fish-A-Thon.
"Just a little breezy, it was a good day being out here," said Burns.
The outing was staffed by the city's Senior Services Division.
Besides the chance to fish the event offered seniors dancing, fellowship and a meal before the day wrapped up in the early afternoon.
