BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Another arrest has been made in connection with the murder of a 13-month-old boy in Brunswick.
Mayor Pro Tem and Brunswick City Commissioner James Brooks Sr. was arrested Thursday on charges of influencing a witness and obstruction of an investigation, according to his attorney Allan Tucker.
Brooks allegedly would not allow a county investigator to speak with the mother of the 17-year-old suspect in the case when she left court.
Tucker told First Coast News he has not yet spoken with his client, but plans to be at the District Attorney's office first thing Friday morning to try and get Brooks out of the Glynn County Jail.
Our news partner The Florida Times-Union also reports that Brooks was charged with unrelated racketeering charges.
Brooks is an Associate Pastor at Ken Adkins' church in Brunswick, and Adkins told First Coast News he was shocked by the charges and waiting to hear more information.
