PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. - An investigation into a home with suspected drug activity lead to the seizure of marijuana, marijuana plants, ammunition and prescription pills.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on Thursday at a home on the 100 block of South Street in Melrose, according to a Facebook post form the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
During a search of the home, deputies allegedly found several items of narcotics and related drug paraphernalia including less than 20 grams of marijuana, 8 marijuana plants, various pipes, straws, ammunition, and assorted prescription pills which were identified as schedule II controlled substances, the post claimed.
A total of five suspects were arrested and charged as a result of the search warrant. William Bennett, 25, Shawn Bennett, 24, Dana Hoffman, 54, Wendy Wheeler, 30 and 33-year-old Michael Taylor were arrested for various charges. Sheriff Jeff Hardy stated "The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is committed to getting illegal drugs off our streets. This operation resulted in the arrests of several suspects."
William Bennett is facing charges of trafficking in opium or derivative, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. William Bennett remains in jail with a $44,020 bond. Shawn Bennett was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation. Hoffman is facing charges relating to the sale of a schedule II substance. Wheeler was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant in Putnam County and is being held without bond. Taylor is facing charges of marijuana possession, less than 20 grams.
