PALATKA, Fla. - An altercation early Friday morning led to a shooting, resulting in one man being hospitalized.
Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a disturbance at a home on the 400 block of East Bay Street a little after 6:00 a.m. Friday, according to a release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
According to law enforcement, Tromell (T.J.) Camps, arrived at the home. Dominic Gaines allegedly answered the door and a physical altercation ensued, the release stated. Camps was shot during the altercation by an unknown type of firearm.
Camps allegedly fled on foot from the scene and was later taken to the Putnam Community Medical Center by a relative, according to the PCSO. Due to the seriousness of Camps injuries, he was transported to Shands Gainesville and his condition is unknown at this time.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was notified and is currently investigating the incident.
