ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to a gas line leak in the 2500 block of U.S. 1 South on Sunday night.

The leak happened when a vehicle hit a natural gas meter, SJCFR said on its Facebook page.

The SJCFR Special Operations team was able to stop the leak, though crews are still working with the gas company to finish the repair.

U.S. 1 southbound has now reopened between Lewis Point Road and Gerona Road.

An area within 1,000 feet of the leak were evacuated. No homes were evacuated.
